Just blogging about an exciting project I’ve been seconded to coordinate by Rhondda Cynon Taff local authority to coordinate at the moment. The project, a collaboration between RCT local authority and Microsoft, will involve pupils in Year 6 and 7 from schools throughout the authority. The ultimate aim of the project will be to use a range of ICT, including Minecraft, to build the Rhondda Heritage Park – a coal mining museum built on the site of a former colliery. Before pupils can do this they will be working collaboratively between schools on a project based around the history of coal mining and how the Rhondda Valley has changed over the last century. We are hoping to involve between 15-20 schools throughout the Rhondda. As well as using the latest ICT, there will be a big focus on developing literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.
This week I’ve been meeting with a number of organisations/agencies to plan the outline of the project. Be great if anybody has any suggestions about the different types of ICT we could use.
